Important Information

Effective Use of Preserved Timber

*Any surface exposed by drilling or cutting must be retreated with a cut end preservative (available from Glenavon in 2.5 and 5 litre containers). Failure to retreat will reduce the effectiveness of the preservative.

*It is recommended that the re-preserved ends are not put in the ground or in direct contact with water.

*Rip-sawing, thicknessing and planing are not permitted unless the timber is subsequently re-treated to the original specification.

*Preserved timber can be painted or stained once dry.

*Preserved timber, once dry, can be glued with most commonly used adhesives.

*When working with preserved timber, it is important that you use the right fixings to ensure the long-term future of your outdoor project. Use only hot-dipped galvanised, stainless steel or other approved Osmose fixings. Do not use Naturewood products in direct contact with aluminium.

*Once fully dry, treated timber may be regarded as untreated for COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1994) purposes.
